EasiShare V10 Introduced Differential Synchronisation - a Faster and a Better Experience

With technological advancements, most organisations have transformed their workplace to enable employees to access and collaborate on files easily anytime and anywhere. In an enterprise, enabling the mobility for the entire organisation comes with its challenges. All work-related files should be backed up in a central repository, and for the backup strategies to be successful, the impact on the end user should be minimised.

Employees might spend a long time to synchronise and back up the modified large size documents which might reduce the end user’s productivity.

To reduce the time taken to synchronise large files and avoid the bandwidth overload, EasiShare v10 introduced the implementation of Differential Synchronisation also known as Delta Sync.

Delta Sync

What is Differential Synchronisation (Delta Sync)?

Delta Sync is a type of synchronisation technology that only synchronises parts of the file that have been modified rather than syncing the whole document.  Before a modified file is uploaded, Delta Sync compares the new and the old version, and only transfers the corresponding changes. Thus, considerably reducing the size of the transferred data. Additionally, Delta Sync also addresses bandwidth overloading issues within organisation’s network.

For example, in a dynamic environment, large design, blueprint or video files are being edited frequently. These large files are constantly being synced across users’ workstations and organisation servers, sometimes when there is low bandwidth, making the whole process time-consuming. So, enabling Delta Sync would reduce the time wastage and provide a better and faster user experience.
